Control Music Players from the GNOME Panel with Music Applet

Music Applet is really useful GNOME panel applet. With Music Applet, you can control various music players from the GNOME panel. Currently, Music Applet supports Banshee, Exaile, MPD, Muine, Quod Libet, Rhythmbox and XMMS/XMMS2.

If you’re use Ubuntu, that’s a very easy thing. To install Music Applet, in your terminal window, type the following command:

sudo apt-get install music-applet

Right-clicking on the GNOME panel, select Add to Panel. Then select “Music Applet” item and click Add button.

    for mpd you have to install python-mpd too.

    sudo apt-get install python-mpd.
