GPicView is a simple and fast image viewer for X. It is extremely lightweight and fast with low memory usage. Furthermore, GPicView is only used pure GTK+. It doesn’t require any specific desktop environment. This program is very suitable for default image viewer of desktop system.
To install GPicView on Ubuntu, you can execute these steps:
Download deb package of GPicView from here.
Open your terminal, run this command:
sudo dpkg -i gpicview0.1.5ubuntu1i386.deb
- Now you can launch GPicView by click Applications → Graphics → GPicVew Image Viewer menu item.

how do i set it as my default image viewer? eye of gnome crashes often especially when i view huge sizes of image s and png’s
