Version 2.6.7 of GIMP is out. “GIMP 2.6.7 comes with lots of bug-fixes and it contains an important fix for using GIMP with the latest GEGL and babl releases.” All users are encouraged to upgrade.

To install GIMP 2.6.7 on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope), you can execute the following steps:

  1. Download .deb packages of GIMP from GetDeb, including gimp_2.6.7-1~getdeb1_i386.deb, gimp-data_2.6.7-1~getdeb1_all.deb and libgimp2.0_2.6.7-1~getdeb1_i386.deb. For x86_64, see also here. Then save to your desktop.
  2. Open your terminal, go to ~/Desktop directory, and run dpkg command:

    $ cd ~/Desktop
    $ sudo dpkg -i *.deb

That’s it.
