Instantbird is a multi-protocol Instant Messaging client that allows you connect to all your different IM accounts. It supports AIM, MSN, Gadu-Gadu, QQ, Google Talk, XMPP, ICQ, Yahoo!, and so on. Instantbird is based on Mozilla technologies and Pidgin libpurple library. Here’s how to run it on Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon.
- The latest version of Instantbird is 0.1. You can download it at here.
- Extract the tarball file using this command:
tar zxvf instantbird-0.1.tar.gz - Go to instantbird-0.1 folder:
cd instantbird-0.1/ - Now we can run Instantbird:
./instantbird.sh

So does this have more or less features than Pidgin? I see that it uses the Pidgin libpurple. Why not just use Pidgin then?
