Version 1.4.0.118 of Skype for Linux has been released. This release is a final edition. It’s not only improved voice call quality, but also added some new features. This post shows how you can install the latest version of Skype on Debian or Ubuntu.
To install Skype 1.4 on Debian or Ubuntu, you need to perform the following steps:
1. Download deb package from here or here. I save it to ~/Desktop.
2. Go to Desktop folder:
cd ~/Desktop/
3. Install Skype:
sudo dpkg -i skype-debian_1.4.0.118-1_i386.deb
Now you can run Skype by click Applications → Internet → Skype.
Accept license agreement.
Skype main window.
