If you’re looking for CD image editor for Linux, I recommend you use ISO Master. ISO Master is a graphical program and quite easy-to-use. With ISO Master, you can extract files from an ISO, add files to an ISO, and create bootable ISOs. ISO Master can also open NRG and some MDF files.
Installing ISO Master
The current version of ISO Master is 1.3. You can download the deb package for Debian/Ubuntu. Then open your terminal and run the following command:
$ sudo dpkg -i isomaster_1.3-1_i386.deb
Running ISO Master
To run ISO Master, you can click Applications → Accessories → ISO Master.

Exactly what I was looking for, easy installation instructions for ISO Master on Ubuntu. You rock!
5 warfie // Dec 10, 2008 at 6:49 pm
firstly: an summit wrong with the installation instruction provided…
~$ sudo dpkg -i isomaster_1.3-1_i386.deb
[sudo] password for user: ********
dpkg: error processing isomaster_1.3-1_i386.deb (–install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
isomaster_1.3-1_i386.deb
fortunately isomaster can be found in Ubuntu’s Synaptic Package manager, simply search and install, no problem…
but then, try to edit an .iso and I get an error:
Failed to read volume info: ‘First volume descriptor type not primary like ISO9660 requires’
this *is* a valid .iso which I have already burned to DVD and from which I have installed the program contained therein… so… what’s up doc? Isomaster can’t handle DVD .iso’s? or summit else?

I was trying to upgrade, gan not even find what version I have installed, I am meant to be some kind of bloody mind reader here. The ISO Master site only carries source code to which I have no clue on how to compile and this version of ISO master will not write ANY iso file, it will read and update them but from scratch it shits itself like an OAP who suffers from dementia as it goes through the process of writing a 4.1 Gig file to a barely used 320Gig drive thane completes but fails to write bitching about how the near empty 320 GB drive is full….
Nice effort at emulating ISO tools on offer on windows platforms that work. So I am off to try one under WINE to see if a MICRO$OFT pile of crap will out do a Linux pile of crap.
!
Seriously, this ISO Master waste of time unless your extracting a file…
