Who you are :
Offering Managers are general managers of their markets and offerings – individually accountable for commercial outcomes
The Offering Management career path and enablement program is designed to create future General Managers
Offering Managers are at the center of cross functional teams, leading specialists from other disciplines
Offering Manager owns strategy for an offering within a market segment, determines its user value proposition, and defines the differentiated offering, sets detailed direction and priorities across disciplines to bring offering to market.
Offering Managers are accountable for offerings – oversee design of offerings and development / execution of offering business plans; responsible for offerings commercial success
Develops and delivers innovative offerings to market, defining all offering elements and value proposition including components (e.g., services, products, etc.), functionality, UI/UX needs, customer success, digital engagement, APIs, and ecosystem requirements.
Brings fresh thinking from experience building business cases, launching differentiated offerings, and designing new GTM strategies. Should work across disciplines/Units to launch new offerings or features with demonstrated commercial success.
Offering Managers will sit in the Units and Brands but are expected to lead cross discipline teams, drawing upon resources and expertise across IBM
Offering Management practitioners are aligned to markets and not just products. Markets are defined by domain, industry, and geography. For example: Domain (e.g., Cloud Security), Domain + Industry (e.g., IoT in Auto), or Industry (Watson Health)
Focus should be on creating complete offerings that may include services – or are solely services – as well as ecosystems, go to market, and enablement. Offering Management practitioners will be delivering client success and creating the right digital engagement experiences.
Offering Managers are empowered to set overall direction in a market, define the resources needed within the context of the unit's strategy, and establish priorities across disciplines.

What you’ll do :
Define overall development resource envelope in offering business plan
Decide on minimum viable offering and offering roadmap through iteration with Development lead
Decide when to release offering
Decide overall revenue & profit targets
Set directional route to market mix, approve RTM plan
Set enablement requirements
Determine dependencies with Digital, technical sales, etc.
Prioritize industries and user segments for offering
Determine marketing investment by channel
Sets direction for design, sales, and marketing to plan innovative go-to-market strategies. Determines marketing investment by channel, converts technical positioning into key market messages, and indicates which specific competitors and offerings IBM’s messaging and outreach must position against.
Maintains close relationships with marketing communications and sales management and leverages superior communication skills to socialize offering differentiation by market segment and client profile/cohort.
Experience managing P&L, profit pressures, and making trade-off decisions. Professional mastery and knowledge related to translating customer needs and buying preferences, market trends and technology capabilities and competitive insights into segment strategy and offering design requirements, and executing on that vision throughout the offering life cycle.
