Here’s another quick tip. This tip shows how you can configure fixed window placement in Compiz Fusion.
Launch CompizConfig Settings Manager, press Alt + F2 and enter “ccsm”, then press Enter.
Enable Place Windows.
Click Place Windows and switch to Fixed Window Placement.
Expand Windows with fixed positions and click Add button.
- In Edit dialog box, enter the following information:
- Positioned windows: for example, “title=Mozilla Firefox”.
- X Positions: for example, “200″.
- Y Positions: for example, “113″.

Thanks for this tip. I have Mandriva 2008 with Compiz and was really annoyed with the various window placement options on offer. I was able to get GKrellM to stay up the top-right corner of my screen with this tip (”xwininfo” is a handy utility to show you window size, position, etc, info).
